Quatrefoil Impact Story

After setting up a separate endowment, raising funds and inviting applicants from throughout Minnesota, Quatrefoil announced in 2019 that its first scholarship would go to University of Minnesota junior Luis Mendoza. Quatrefoil is thrilled to give its first annual scholarship to Luis,” says board member Paul Kaefer. “He represents exactly the kind of enthusiastic students we want to continue to engage: involved in the community and dedicated to making positive change.” Says Luis: “I applied because I was really interested in the organization and I like the idea of having it as one of my benefactors. It means a lot to me to get this. I’m from a low-income background, so I rely on scholarships. It’s great to get something from my own community. And Quatrefoil is a really good resource, aside from just the money.” Mendoza, a business major, says “a lot of organizations in the community lack access to business and marketing skills. I want to use my studies to help those people.” Quatrefoil looks forward to finding and helping another deserving and outstanding young person when it awards its second scholarship in 2020.
